Suzanne R. McLaughlin Obituary
Suzanne Rossire McLaughlin

Suzanne passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Virginia Mason Hospital on October 6th. She was born in Englewood, New Jersey on June 1, 1945 and grew up in Salisbury, Connecticut. Suzanne was a graduate of Connecticut College for Women (BA Botany, 1968) and North Seattle Community College (Early Childhood Edu-cation, 1994). She married John F (Jeff) McLaughlin, MD in 1969. They happily discovered Seattle in 1970 and stayed to start careers and a family. Suzanne was active in the alternative school parents' coalition, the Seattle Public Schools, and was Co-President of the Seattle Council PTSA in 1988. Passionate about introducing children to music and art, she volunteered in the schools, and taught preschool in the cooperative preschool network and at North Seattle Community College. She loved the Japanese Garden in the UW Arboretum and enjoyed being a tour docent there in the early 2000s. She relished theatre, ballet, and a good murder mystery.

Suzanne is survived by her husband, children Matthew McLaughlin (New York City), Emily McLaughlin (Seattle), daughter in law Clare, grandchildren James and Fiona (New York City), brother Francis Henry Sand Rossire (Lakeville, CT), sister Jeanne Rossire (Seattle), cousin Pamela Ryan (Essex, CT) and many beloved extended family members on three continents.

A private celebration of life will be held.
