Stephen C. Slater Obituary
Stephen C. "Steve" Slater

Lifelong Seattle area resident and businessman Steve Slater, died unexpectedly of an aortic aneurysm on Saturday October 6th. A fourth generation descendant of original Seattle pioneers, Steve was born at Swedish Hospital in 1949 to Bill & Bette Ann Slater and grew up with his family on Mercer Island, graduating from Mercer Island High School with honors in 1967. Steve was an Eagle Scout, ran track and loved music, water & snow skiing and classic comic books. He went east to college and graduated from Yale University in 1971. Moving back to Seattle, Steve earned his Masters degree at the University of Washington and began a varied career in real estate, venture capital & small business management & consulting. A fixture in the Queen Anne area, Steve will be remembered as a warm and wonderful brother, uncle, nephew & friend. Intelligent, generous & with a wickedly irreverent sense of humor, Steve loved his family & his many friends, his Huskies & his Seahawks.

Steve is survived by his two sisters, Janet Slater Hardman, & Debbie Slater Taylor, his brother Greg, his nephew & niece Kyle & Kelsey Taylor, his stepmom Anne McCall Slater & his many cousins. He will be forever loved & missed by all of us.

There will be a celebration of Steve's life Sunday, November 11 from 4 - 7pm at the Ship Canal Grill, 3218 Eastlake Avenue E., Seattle.

Remembrances of Steve can be made to the Vasculitis Foundation in honor of his niece Kelsey Taylor. Information for donations can be found at vasculitisfoundation.org.
