Avery Grove

Catherine "Kay" Avery Grove, 92, passed away on October 16, 2012. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Kay attended Bennington College, and after the war, earned a BA in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Mexico City College. She and her husband, Richard Grove, former Director of the Henry Art Gallery, lived in Santa Fe, Colorado Springs, Wichita, New Jersey, Washington DC, and Seattle since 1978. Kay was a food writer and was published in Mademoiselle Magazine and the Washington Post, among others. She is predeceased by her husband and eldest son, Christopher Grove. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Jubell, Chicago, IL; brother, John Avery, Cleveland, OH; son Peter Grove, Washington DC; daughter, Lisa Grove, Bethesda, MD; daughter-in-law, Amanda Grove, Bellingham WA; and six grandchildren. A memorial will be held at University House, 4400 Stone Way, Seattle on Saturday October 27, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Planned Parenthood.
