Margaret Ryan Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Ellen Ryan

Born July 11, 1943 in Seattle, WA., Peggy passed away Nov. 13, 2012. She is survived by her husband Jose, ex-husband Michael, children Brodie, Sibyl, Ian, Patrick, and grandchildren Darrien, Devin, Dylan, Sydney, Remy, baby Maggie, and dog Jaime. She is also survived by siblings Denny, Lynda, and Martha. She attended Holy Names, Seattle University, and Boston University, receiving her Master's Degree. Some of her many passions included writing, blogging, Hispanic culture, travel, design, image, cooking, and above all connecting with her kids and grandkids. Uniquely defined by her personality: sassy, spunky, and never afraid to speak her mind.

"These days, I am surprising myself with some of my capabilities - that are actual, not imaginary. I also know that I can't control what people think of me, but I can control what I think of myself. I want to give myself a chance. I believe I have something to offer - at least, to my children. There might be some healing going on, not only in myself, but in my relationships. Compassion is needed all around. With compassion comes the ability to love. Love is the antithesis of narcissism. Amen" - Margaret Ryan

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 :00 am Providence Mount St. Vincent, 11/21/12. Additional details at:

Words are difficult to describe true emotions about such a tragedy but I and my family are blessed and thankful that the events provide us with more of the personal character and many talents of this beautiful relative (beloved Niece, to me); while we did not get to know her as well as others in the broader family, we now realize that she obviously was unique in her positive outlook on life and the moral compass she carried and her activities looking to improve others.

I am grateful for a few memorable meetings with her and the joy provided by her presence. May our common Lord and Creator grant her Eternal Rest. And may our ever-merciful Lord look favorably on her son, Brodie.
