Virginia Skene Obituary
Virginia Skene

Virginia Skene, 92 passed away on January 1, 2013.

Born in 1920 to Syrill and Emma Schreyer, Virginia spent most of her life in Seattle, graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1938. Over the years, she lived in Canada, Texas and California but always returned to the Seattle area. She retired after 35 years as an Executive Assistant at the Boeing Commercial Airplane Division. In her "retirement" she extended her role as "The Avon Lady" eventually serving her customers/friends for over 20 years. She was an avid traveler within the US, Europe and Asia.

Known to some as Ginny, Ginger, Mom, Nana and Nanny, Virginia was the Matriarch of our family and provided a solid foundation for all of us to grow and mature. With the birth of her kids spread over 22 years, she was raising her kids and watching over her grandkids at the same time!

Virginia is survived by daughter Judy Iwasaki (George), son Jerry Skene (Barbara), son Mackie Skene (Suzanne), and daughter Shannon Barber. She had nine grandchildren: Rick, Shelley, Scottie, Tiffany, Summer, Mackenzie, Matthew, Megan, Justin. Six great-grandchildren: Blake, Jordan, Brodie, Hudson, Madison & Pierce. We will all miss her dearly.

The family thanks the staff at Providence Hospice and The Lakeshore who helped make her transition full of grace and dignity. A private interment will be held at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Providence Hospice or Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
