Patricia Conner Walz|
Patricia Conner Walz, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on January 18, 2013. She was 72. Mrs. Walz was born in Albuquerque, NM, to the late Charles Joseph Conner and Geraldine Mahoney Conner. Patricia was an adoring mother, sister, friend and dedicated educator known for a smile so wide that it made her Irish eyes disappear. Her loved ones felt safe knowing she was fiercely protective of them.
"Strength," "courage" and "independence" resonated from her when she unexpectedly became a single mother with two teen-age children; when she scripted a new chapter to her life by relocating to Europe and Scandinavia; when she arrived alone in Cecil County and built friendships and a long career; and finally as she battled her body that had turned on her at far too early an age.
Patricia's love for education and travel were ideal partners. She shared the art and culture that she discovered abroad with her students at North East Middle School in ways that opened up the world to middle schoolers. She studied trends in executive education with keen interest and applied these lessons in the classroom to ensure that her students were prepared for the changing economy.
Mrs. Walz was the wife of the late Michael F. Walz. She was the mother of Timothy Michael Walz of Suwanee, GA, and Julie Patrice Walz Betancourt of Clarksville, TN. She was the grandmother of Megan Walz, Molly Walz, Michael Walz, Devyn Betancourt and Lita Betancourt, and great-grandson Easton Betancourt. She was the sister of Kathleen McClave, Terese Payne, Pat Dicks, Paul Dicks, Mike Dicks, Jim Dicks, and Marianne Dicks.
A memorial service will be held on February 15th at 11:00 AM at St. Louise Catholic Church in Bellevue Washington. Memorials may be made to the Johns Hopkins Breast Center c/o Lillie Shockney 601 N. Caroline Street
