Janet Maureen Washington|
Born March 13, 1937 to Quentin A. & Winifred L. Herwig. Jan was raised in Bellevue, Washington and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1955. She attended Western Washington University, worked for King County Council off and on since 1969 and married her cherished Jim Washington in October, 1971. Jan & Jim were always extremely involved in their children's school and extra-curricular activities. She was PTA President 4 times, and received the Golden Acorn Award for her involvement. She was also a member of the Northshore Juvenile Court Conference Committee for 12 years.
Jan enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved digging clams on the Hood Canal, being with her children and most of all being with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved Husky football, politics, cooking, entertaining, family, friends and getting together with high school classmates.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 41 years. James H. Washington and their children: Deven (Dennis), Michael (Debbie), and Sherri Lynn (Rob), as well as, 11 grandchildren: Tony, Landon, Mandy, Laura, Mikey, Jeff, Kelly, Kshama, Avery, Owen and Elliot & 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to many very close friends, Jan also leaves two exchange students, both of whom are considered children, of the Washington family: Anju, (Hemant), and Jorge Loor-Zambrano, (Angellica).
She will be remembered for her contagious laugh, her silly sense of humor, her ability to have fun wherever she went, and her generosity. Jan will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she impacted.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 23, 2013 between 1:00-3:00 at The Foundation House at Bothell, 17502 102nd Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011-6704.
