Robert B. (Bob) Lawton Obituary
Robert B. (Bob) Lawton

Robert B. (Bob) Lawton, 61, passed away February 13, 2013, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife, Lynn Lawton and stepson, John Torrence, were with him. He was born on September 26, 1951, in Waterbury CT to Robert I. and Elise H. Lawton.

Bob is survived by his son, Daniel R. Lawton, of Johnson City TN; his three sisters, Judy MacIver (Chuck) of Watertown CT, Janet Lawlor (Mike) of Southbury CT and Susan McCleary (Bryan) of Watertown CT; sister-in-law, Sharon Burchett of Bend OR; three nephews, three nieces, two great-nephews and one great-niece.

He joined the Navy in 1969 and was stationed on the USS Whipple in Bremerton WA. When he flew out to join the ship, he said it was the most beautiful spot he'd ever seen. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Seattle WA, later moving to Everett. He worked as an Office Machines Repairman for 18 years for both Kelly and Electronic Business Machines. In 1996 he went to work for Boeing as a Join Mechanic on the 777, and later moved to the 747 as an Assembly Mechanic, which he greatly enjoyed. He was very proud of all the teams he worked with, and the many friends he made over the years.

He enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, boating in Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands and spending vacations with his family on the Oregon Coast. He was a wonderful, caring husband, stepfather, brother and friend, who will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Solie Funeral Home,3301 Colby Ave., Everett.

Donations may be made to Group Health Hospice Services, 2100 124th Ave. NE, Bellevue WA 98005.
