Kenmore resident Jeri Nelson died peacefully on February 9th at Swedish Hospital with her husband and children at her side.
Jeri was born April 15, 1940 in Gooding, Idaho to Marvin Webb and Margaret Pauls. She then attended and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1958. Married to John Straga, they had 6 beautiful children together while living in Moses Lake. They moved to Bothell in 1969. She became involved in the Kenmore Chamber of Commerce, PTA and many other roles of a loving and supportive mother. Jeri became a single mother of 6 in 1974 and began her career of 20+ years in the store planning/fixture industry at King Merchandising Concepts, Inc. She also held a board position for many years with the Retail Design Institute.
During her retirement years Jeri cared for her aging parents and also enjoyed sewing, camping, and fishing which included a 6 week annual salmon fishing trip to Sekiu with her husband Dick. Jeri, lovingly known as Nana, supported all her grandchildren's activities.
Jeri is survived by her husband, Richard W. Nelson, her children Theresa, Shane, Shelley, Kelley, Jamie, and Dirk, her step children Debbie, Garth, and Kay, 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and sister Kay & her 3 children.
A celebration of Jeri's life will be held on March 9th at 10:30 AM at the Bothell United Methodist Church located at 18515 92nd Ave NE Bothell, WA 98011.
