Mary Joan (Mary Jo) WARD Obituary
Mary Joan (Mary Jo) WARD

After a brief illness, Mary Joan Ward passed away peacefully on February 16, 2013. She was 76. Mary Jo was born in Miles City, MT to the late Virgil E. and Kathryn Ruth Glosup. A graduate of Holy Names Academy, Seattle, Washington, she went on to attend Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

An avid gardener, Mary Jo's backyard patio was a showplace of brilliant blooms. Other favorite pastimes included music, reading, beautiful cross-stitch, crewel and needlepoint embroidery projects, scenic drives with her family to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival and Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park, and holiday decorating-most notably for the Christmas holidays. She had a beautiful voice and was accomplished on the piano.

Mary Jo was the wife of the late William St. Claire Ward. She was the mother of Carolyn Ward Verwolf (Nick), Jennifer Ward Lamont, Janie Ward Peck (Dave), and Susan Ward. She was the grandmother of Mary Beth Verwolf, Bill and Sam Peck, and Daniel and Dylan Lamont. She was the aunt of John Paul Ligon. She was the sister of Betty Ligon and Barbara Hackleman (Michael).

Mary Jo's family, friends and many others will miss her very much. Her family enjoyed her feisty and independent spirit. May she be returned with loved ones and surrounded by her beloved animals in Heaven.

At Mary Jo's request, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Seattle Humane Society (http://www.seattlehumane.org).
