Daniel Monahan, of Renton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 22, 2013. Dan was born on February 25, 1947 into a loving Irish household that came to include six siblings. He attended St. Edwards Grade School and St. Martins High School. During his time of service with the U.S. Coast Guard, he met Nancy Gisslin, the great love of his life. Dan and Nancy married and enjoyed 42 years together. They were blessed with two children, Melissa and Ryan.
Dan was a third generation railroad man who worked for Burlington Northern for 38 years. He greatly enjoyed the company of his family and the constant activities they would undertake on Guemes Island. His personality was Irish to the core. His favorite pursuits included planting trees and woodworking.
His brother Terry preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his two children Melissa and Ryan, son in law Jeff Wright, sisters Mary Margaret, Veronica, Michele and Moira, and brother Tom. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at St. Edwards Church in Seattle on April 15th, Rosary 9:30 a.m., Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.
