Donald Paul Danley, age 85, of Bothell, WA passed away March 15, 2013 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, Washington. He died peacefully in his sleep.

He was born Jan 11, 1928 in Kaslan, WA, he was the son of Aaron Lafete and Doris Lillian Lee.

Don was skilled and hard-working, and took pride in his work as the owner of D & D Brakes of Lake City and Seattle for 40 Years; a majority of his jobs were repeat clients who claimed D & D was "The Best Brake Shop in the Seattle Area!" They also say he had a lot of integrity and always stood by his work. He had recently retired in 2011 and sold the business to his loyal employee of 23 years, Larry Bishop who described Don as "The best boss in the world, He's honest, a hard worker, and a great Role Model".

Don graduated from Broadway High School on Capitol Hill in 1944. He then served as a Merchant Marine with an Honorable discharge, and was drafted into the US Army and received a Honorable Discharge and Good Conduct Medal.

During his 20's He and his Brother Frank (who raced under the name of "Danny Graves") were successful Race Car drivers in the Stockton California Circuit, this is where he met Lerona Adams, who was the Trophy Girl, and they Married, moved to Bothell, WA and had four Children, Donald Larry, Mildred Machelle, Pauline Francis and Darin Vincent.

Don also owned and Raced Horses (when he gave up racing cars) and was seen at Longacers for many years. And when he wasn't frequenting the winner's circle at the race track he would be watching the Seahawks. He was an avid fan and stuck with then through thick and thin.

He met and Married Darlene Flower in 1970 and they raised her three children, Michael Allen, Gerald (Jerry) Ray and Vicki Lynn.

Don is survived by six of his children and step Children; Don L. Danley . of Marysville, WA, Mildred Lutz of Baker City, OR; Pauline Danley-Yore of San Jose, CA; Michael Ruff of Seattle WA., Jerry Ruff of Seattle, WA. and Vicki Ruff of Seattle, WA. He was also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.

A "Celebration of Life" event is being held in his name on Sunday, April 28th at the Eagle's Club, 8201 Lake City Way N.E., Seattle, Wa. 98115 @ 1:00.
