Katherine Jeanette Anderson Obituary
Katherine Jeanette Anderson

Beloved Mother, Sister and friend to many, Kathie Anderson, surrounded by her loving family, quietly passed away July 26th, 2013. Surrounded by her loving family. Born August 21, 1930 to Sam and Jennie Moen, Norwegian immigrants of Seattle, Washington. Kathie attended Ballard High School where she met the love of her life, husband Keith Peter Anderson. Keith joined the Marines & they started their family having 4 children within 3 years. Kathie was a wonderful mother and held God and Jesus close to her heart. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, ceramics, trick water-skiing, and being our all-around 'fun-gineer'! After Keith retired from the Marines, Kathie's interests were focused on gardening, jam & wine making, stained glass windows, ice skating, raising Maltese dogs, golfing and antiquing. She stayed connected with her Ballard High girlfriends for summer and Christmas events. Joining Lake Wilderness Golf Club and loving golf as she did, she worked her way up to become president of the Greater Seattle Women's Golf Association. Moving to Kent in the 80's found her still gardening and golfing but brought new activities of RV camping, snowmobiling & hosting pool parties where family & friends enjoyed swimming, volley ball, croquet, food and relaxation. Moving to an Alki beach home in 2001 she began making it the most colorful house with her gardening expertise. She loved talking to passersby who would stop to rave about her beautiful flowers. Her goal was to make it 'the prettiest garden on the block' and it was enjoyed by many. After moving to Merrill Gardens, she brought her green thumb to the communal patio and a new group of admirers. She became a resident Ambassador of Merrill Gardens, enjoyed the spiritual hour, shopping trips, and bingo. There were life challenges along the way, but having beat cancer twice and dealing with heart and diabetes issues on a daily basis, she would say, 'there's someone worse off than me!'.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth, husband Keith and son Keith Michael. Kathie is survived by her loving family; sister Solveig Rux, brother Alf Moen, sister in-law Marsha Anderson, children Karen Anderson (Rick), Kevin Anderson (Joan), Kelly Malarkey (Patrick), and many

grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces & nephews. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of her favorite charities: Susan G Komen Cancer, , Autism Association or . Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 5th at 2:15 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent, WA 98042.
