Don Edward Ricketts|
Don Ricketts passed away in his sleep at home in Edmonds, WA on August 6, 2013. Don was born to Clark and Georgetta Ricketts on January 15, 1927 in Everett, where he grew up in a loving family with siblings Bud, Doris, Bob, and Alan. He developed lifetime friends in Everett and excelled in school, including as class president.
In 1944, Don was recruited into a special education program with the US Army, attending both Utah and Oregon State Universities. In Corvallis, he met Marie Bowers, the base commander's daughter. They married in 1947 and moved back to Everett. Don finished his Business Degree at the University of Washington - a first and proud event for the entire Ricketts family.
Over many years, Don and Marie raised three children, and developed long-lasting friendships as they lived in several homes and neighborhoods. Don tirelessly balanced time at home and work.
During the course of his career, Don built several businesses in international moving. Highly respected in his field, he traveled the world meeting clients and making longtime friends wherever he went.
At the same time, Don put opportunities to be with family and friends above all else. These occasions were enjoyable and meaningful to Don. He especially valued the opportunities to help family, friends, and even strangers in need.
As retirement replaced business life, Don finally relaxed, enjoying golf, lunching with friends, travelling, taking in views of Puget Sound, and sharing experiences with the love of his life, Marie.
He is survived by his wife Marie; children Dave (Linda), Karen (Edward) and Chris; grandsons Justin, Girard and Michael; and great-grandson, Marcel.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on Saturday, August 24th starting at 2:00 at the Point Edwards Clubhouse, 85 Pine St. Edmonds, WA. For more information, look for Don in the "Remembering" list at: www.becksfuneralhome.com
