Helen Ivester Obituary

Helen K. Ivester

Helen K. Ivester died October 18, 2013. The 7th of 12 children born to George Zander and Mary Schmidt (Zander) on a farm outside Mandan, North Dakota. She moved to Seattle in 1941 and trained to be a nurse. She met Dale Ivester at the Trianon Ballroom and married him in 1951. She continued to work as a nurse and later at a dry cleaners while raising Paul and his cousin Steve. She was a long time parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving husband, Dale, son Paul (Barbara), grandsons Henry & Nate, nephew Steve (LaVonne), children Philip (son Nathan) and Cori (Josh), siblings Clara Schaaf, Nick Zander, Irene Kautzman, Markus Zander and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Thursday, October 24th, 2013 at 9:00 a.m; and the funeral service at 10:00 a.m; followed by a reception at 11:00 a.m., all at Bleitz Funeral Home, 316 Florentia St., Seattle 98109; Graveside burial at 1:30 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.
