Ellis "Al" Chriest

Al passed away peacefully on October 10, 2013 of complications of Alzheimers disease at the age of 94.

He was born in Seattle to Julius and Helena Chriest on June 19th, 1919, and lived there all of his life, graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1937.

He was a veteran of World War Two, joining the Navy in 1943 and was assigned to the Seabees. He served in the Pacific for 2 years and was discharged in 1945. He worked for the Post Office for most of his adult life, retiring in 1975. He then drove school bus for the Highline School District for the next 18 years, retiring for good in 1993.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jule Frazier in 1997. He is survived by his companion of 36 years, Beverly Gordon, his grandson, David Frazier (Kirsten) of California, his granddaughter Tara Frazier-Rice (Steve) and great-grandsons Julian, Jackson and Kellen Rice, all of Ashland, Oregon. He is also survived by Bev's family, who welcomed him as their own.

Al and Bev made their home in Burien and spent many happy times with family and friends, going on cruises and traveling in the US, Canada and Mexico in their RV.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Aegis of Kent for their warm, loving care of Al for the last 15 months.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Burien Elks Club, 14006 1st Ave S., Burien at 1:00 on November 24th.
