Louis EMERSON Obituary

Louis was born in Seattle on November 15, 1918 in Seattle's Latona neighborhood. He was the sixth of seven children of Mary Elizabeth and Luther Emerson. He attended Blessed Sacrament, St. Benedict's and Seattle Prep.

Golf was his sport, which he played from his early teens until his late 80's. Lou served in the US Navy for 5 years, stationed in the Bay Area and on a ship in the Pacific. After returning to Seattle, he attended and graduated from Seattle University in Philosophy and Education and later from the University of Washington in Library Sciences. He taught English, History, Spanish, and spent the majority of his 30 year career as a librarian for the Kent School District.

Lou was a researcher by nature, and had an endless appetite for learning. He researched words, books, history, politics, current events, the Catholic Church, wine and antiques. Louis enjoyed his avocation as an antique collector and appraiser during more than 25 years in retirement, and became a connoisseur of oriental antiques. Lou loved spending his last years at The Ida Culver House where he made many new friends and received loving care.

Nothing was dearer to Louie than his wife and sweetheart of 63 years, Esther. He is survived by wife Esther Sieler Emerson, daughters (and sons in law) Eileen Emerson (Brahim Bouzid) and Trish Emerson Howe (Blair Howe), 3 grandchildren, Sarah and Linda Bouzid and Catherine Howe, and many nephews and nieces. Services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 5050 8th Ave NE, Seattle, WA on Saturday, Nov. 30th at 11:00 a.m.
