Byron C. Baxter

Byron died peacefully on 1/20/14. He was born in Portland, Oregon on May 28, 1928 to Ida Mae and Leonard Spencer Baxter, the youngest of six children. He graduated from Benson High School in Portland. At Oregon State University he participated in ROTC and graduated in Industrial Engineering. He served in the US Air Force in Germany, where he met his wife, and retired from the AF Reserve as a Major. After leaving active duty he was hired by Boeing, where he worked for 36 years, the last few as a Program Manager in Renton.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gisela, sons Eric (Joanne)of Atlanta and Marc (Heidi) of Seattle, four grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He enjoyed being their favorite uncle.

He had a love/hate relationship with golf, enjoyed traveling, good food and was happy to host friends and family. He coached youth soccer and was President of the L/SPCC in the 1970's.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 1, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at the Lakewood/Seward Park Community Club, 4916 South Angeline, in Seattle.
