Richard W. Newton Obituary
Richard W. Newton

Dick passed away on February 13, 2014. He was the sixth child of Anne and Bill Newton, born on May 11, 1930, in Seattle. Dick graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. During his high school years he was a member of the Washington Athletic Club's swim team, which led to a swimming scholarship offer from the University of Washington, and participation on the U.W.'s swim team. After graduating in 1953 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he spent 18 months in Korea, near the Demilitarization Zone, while in the Air Force. He then began a 35 year career as a Boeing Engineer where he designed, among other things, innovative wiring harnesses which continue to be used in many commercial jet aircraft. He also worked in the Defense Division.

Dick loved summer. His family remembers the happy warm days on the lake, his Sunday morning breakfasts, swimming, water skiing, and the boat trip to the San Juan Islands when they were little. Those were precious times.

Survivors include his five children: Linda, Peggy, Rick, David and Ken; his nine grandchildren: Alysia, Nicole, Jacob, Noah, Michah, Laura, Josh, Taylor and Andrew, and his great-granddaughter, Makayla.
