Robert Woodard, 99, passed away on Valentine's Day. He was the ninth of eleven children born to Thomas and Mary Gross Woodard. Born in Clarence, Louisiana, he lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, a few years before coming to Seattle in 1942. He was a Class A mechanic and worked for S.L. Savidge, King County and Boeing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years Bertha Johnson Woodard, and all ten siblings. He is survived by his daughter Gloria Gary (Robert) and son Robert C. Woodard; grandchildren Rhea Triche (Darroll), Robert Gary, Jr. (Demetra), Jon Gary; great-grandchildren Xavier Triche, Quinten Triche, Janelle Gary, Robert Gary III, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Southwest Mortuary, March 7 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held March 8, at Church by the Side of the Road, 3455 South 148th Street, Tukwila, WA 98168, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please remit donations to Central Area Senior Center, 500 30th Avenue South in memory of Robert Woodard.
