Mrs. Pugh: I often look for old AF friends thru the internet and today I was saddened to find Col Pugh had gone on to be with our Lord. We were together here in Spokane at the 47 AD. When he retired; he gifted me a photo of himself and his Blackbird. He signed it; "from one pilot to a "Bush Pilot" even though I don´t fly. I was previously in Alaska 6th SW. I was impressed by his outgoing friendship with us non-coms in the AD; and stories of advancing into the altitudes! He was a great gentleman and I know he was one loved Commander by his men. GOD Bless you and your family.

I met this man at his home in Bainbridge WA. I was there for HIS family reunion with his nice Catherine. He was very welcoming and "down to earth". as was his lovely wife Deanna. In fact I returned to the next family reunion with a friend that was unknown to the family. Again I/we were welcomed with open arms. I got to spend some time with Tom,and I am a richer man for that. RIP Uncle Tom

I go back to Glasgow, MT when Tom was my B-52 commander, and he was such a great pilot and example of what an Air Force Officer should be. It was a pleasure to have known him and to have been on his crew. He was a credit to the military.

The Blackbird Association membership is deeply saddened by Tom's passing. He was a true Habu in every sense of the word. I personally admired Tom as a complete gentleman with class. He will be missed.

Col. Tom Pugh was the first man I met when I signed in at Beale. He was very busy getting his feet on the ground as the new DO. He spent 45 minutes with me in his office getting to know the "new guy". Great officer, pilot and leader.

Dear Deanna and family, Tom was one of the finest pilots I have ever known. He was also an outstanding officer. Dotti and I send you our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. We will stay in touch.

Dear Deanna and family

Somehow the original message never made it to the website. Indeed Phil and I are very sad to hear of Tom's passing. We have fond memories of days at Beale AFB and reunions over the years. Since Tom is at peace, we ask God's blessing on you and the family for peace and comfort while you remember the good things. Love, Phil and Carol Loignon

Our sincere condolences to Tom's family & close friends. I had the pleasure of being a section superintendent at Beale while Tom was Commander. Our paths crossed again at Palmdale during the BBird reactivation, & also thoroughly enjoyed his company at the BBird symposium in Seattle. Fortunately I regularly get to see Tom's name on the Big-Tail bird we have down here at Eglin AFB. As like many great Habu's, he will be missed, but not forgotten. Mike & Paula Hull

Deanna,

One of the things I always admired about Tom, and it had to with a saying "Don't ever look down on someone unless you are helping them up". Tom was fantastic at that!!

Tom was looked up to by almost every member of the SR-71 Habu brotherhood. Tom was and extraordinary speaker and advocate for the Air Force and the SR-71 in particular. We will miss him greatly.
