Lisa Maybee Obituary

Lisa Ann Maybee

The world lost one of its most generous, kind and loving souls on August 25, 2014. On that date, Lisa Maybee lost her courageous and vigorous battle with illness. Lisa was born May 19, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. She moved with her family to Bellevue, Washington and spent her childhood there, graduating from Newport High School where she was a champion gymnast and a cheerleader. She went on to graduate from the University of Washington, before moving to Eugene where she earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon School of Law. She made Eugene her home and flourished as an attorney in her community.

A generous and caring spirit, Lisa had a true zest for life and lived it fully at all times. Lisa's smile and personality made people feel special. She touched many lives in a positive and loving way. Lisa had a true gift for finding the best in everyone she knew, and had countless lifelong friends whom she considered family. From Africa to Paris, she travelled the world with the love of her life - her spouse Rhonda Fenrich. Each year, Lisa and Rhonda organized and provided Christmas gifts and a party for the residents of the Valley West Retirement Home whom otherwise would not have had a Christmas. Lisa also donated generously to many charities and causes and was a true lover of all animals, big and small.

Lisa is survived by her spouse Rhonda, her beloved dog Cooper, her father David, and, siblings Laurie, Jeff and Ken, as well as her cherished friends and family. Lisa was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Maybee.

Please join us in celebrating Lisa on August 30, 2014 at 12:00pm at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Eugene. Lisa requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee at www.elephants.com, or the "Rack Pack" Susan G Komen Eugene Walk for the Cure Team.

When I think of Lisa I smile inside and outside. Lisa was (is) an angel on earth. Lisa is the person most of us desire to be: kind; smart; funny; loyal; good. I miss Lisa and am better for having known her.

I had the honor of serving with Lisa when she and I were both cheerleaders at the University of Washington from 1980-81. She was a quiet and gentle soul and a wonderful person to work with. It saddens my heart to know she has passed and my prayers go out to her family. The world did indeed lose a special person.

I met Lisa a little over 25 years ago when she had just graduated law school from the U of O. She lived in the same building that my wife lived in. I am so sadden to hear of her passing. I will miss hearing her yearly adventures, caring voice and love of Rhonda.

Lisa was a generous and fascinating breath of fresh air! With her natural ability to see, feel, and listen to people from a place of compassion, she created a connection from her soul to yours. She made everyone feel special, even when she was quietly suffering from her illness. Lisa set the bar very, very high and was an incredible inspiration to us all.
We send our love and peace to Rhonda, family and friends.

Lisa was such an inspiration for me in college. She was my sorority little sister and I can remember walking with her to her cheerleader tryout. I am so proud of what she became and of the impact she made on a lot of people. God has received another saint.

Lisa was a dear AOII sorority sister and Big Sister to my best friend, Kelly. She was AOII's only Husky Cheerleader to my knowledge...a spitfire, spunky, intelligent and stunning young woman. We just adored Lisa and will look forward to seeing her again in heaven...Colleen (Emery) Gants

I hadn't seen Lisa since April of 2005. But during the time that I knew her, WOW...she was so kind and gentle. I turned her on to Spider Solitaire and we used to laugh about that! Rhonda, I am so glad that you both found each other. I am so sorry for your loss. I KNOW that you will be reunited again.
