Steven Aleinikoff, D.D.S. Obituary

Steven Craig Aleinikoff passed away after a heroic battle with cancer on Saturday April 16, 2016 at the age of 55.

Steve was born in Seattle, Washington, the second of two children born to Paul and Beverly Aleinikoff. Steve grew up in the Seward Park area and attended Graham Hill Elementary before attending Lakeside Middle and Upper Schools. Steve was a standout student athlete who competed for the Lakeside Football and Track & Field Programs all four years of high school. He was elected captain of both those teams his senior year. He graduated from Lakeside in 1979 and attended the University of Washington where he ran track his freshman year and was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity all four years. He received his undergraduate Biology degree in 1983 and then attended the University of Washington's School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1987.

Steve and Alison Jones Aleinikoff met and fell in love at the U.W. in 1981 and were married in 1986. They have three incredible children, Kyle, Emily and Ryan who he cherished dearly.

Steve practiced dentistry for 29 years in the University District. He loved being a dentist and the patients he was able to help through the years. He was known professionally for his calm demeanor, sensitivity and humor. Steve loved to travel and go on family trips in places including the Oregon Coast and Hawaii. He was an avid fisherman who spent quality time through the years in Canada. His favorite place was in the San Juans with his family and friends where he loved to go crabbing, shrimping, and spending time outdoors. He will be well remembered for being a standout mixologist and grillmaster, avid Husky Athletics fan, a proud member of Seattle Golf Club, and a man of deep faith.

He is survived by his wife and children, father Paul Aleinikoff Sr, brother Paul Aleinikoff Jr, mother-in-law Marice Jones, sister-in-law Debbie Jones and her husband Larry Stecher and their three children, sister-in-law Missie Ross and her two daughters, brother-in-law Rick Jones and his son, as well as Rick's wife Bonnie Jones. His mother Beverly, father-in-law Richard Jones, and brother-in-law Paul Ross preceded him in death. Steve and Alison's parents both had committed, loving marriages; Steve's for 57 years and Alison's for 50 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Bridget Church, 4900 NE 50th Street, Seattle, on Friday May 13 at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow at Seattle Golf Club. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Steve's memory to Seattle Children's Hospital Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.

I had the pleasure of working for Dr. Aleinikoff since 2007. Most of you know him as a friend, or you're a member of his family. I wanted to complete the circle by saying a few words about the kind of boss and Doctor he was. Dr Aleinikoff was always calm, patient and respectful. He never forgot to say "thank you and "please". He never forgot to give a compliment when needed. Dr aleinikoffs partner, Dr. Timberlake, used to say: "if you want to be treated nicely, go down the hall to Steve's room"... And how true that was. He was the kind of boss that every employee dreams of. You did not have to live or know his personal life first hand to know how much he loved his family and how proud he was of his marriage. Our office family misses dr aleinikoff every single day and of course his famous margaritas in every staff meeting.
I love you and miss you.
RIP Boss <3

My love and respect is so great for this wonderful family. The times I spent with Steve and Allie were too few, but filled with laughter and love. He was such a kind man and was so friendly to all. He is in heaven with Missie's husband Paul and the rest of their family that preceded him in death. I wish Allie and the kids sunny days ahead with wonderful memories of the incredible husband and father. I love you all.
Fondly,
Karen Meagher

I'm so shocked to hear this, Steven was our dentist for years, he took over for Timberlake, who was our dentist 30 years before that. Our insurance changed, so we haven't seen him for about 4 years. So sorry to learn this. I hope he didn't suffer too much. He was such a good dentist and I'm sure a great father and husband according to all the photos he had around. I liked him very very much. Our condolances to his family. Rest in peace Dr. Aleinikoff.

Alliaon & family,

So VERY sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I worked with him very early in his career, and often spoke with him regarding certain patients over the years. He was ALWAYS so cheerful. He would always ask about my son and in return I would ask about his kids. He was SO proud of them ALL. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Dr A.. We have lost a GREAT person & Dentist.

I knew Steve most of my life. He in no small part influenced my decision to enter the health care field. He was more humble and caring than a person of his ability and accomplishment could have been, with a character second to none. I'll always remember his famous smoothies and his infectious smile that he passed on to his wonderful children. I regret not letting him know how much I looked up to him. Love to Alison, Kyle, Emily and Ryan.
