I did not know Lt Bauders, or his family. I learned of his passing by fate. Someone had placed an American flag at our Veterans Memorial Park in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The flag stick was stuck into the corner of four blank bricks and on the shaft was a tag with a picture and information about the Lt. and what had happened. I hope to find the person who must be a family member or very close friend to David, who must be living in this area so I can help them with having a brick engraved in memory of Lt. Bauders. I am a Vet. and take care of the flags and bricks at the park. Contact me: Mike Sinyard, 478-396-7775. With all due respects and condolences, Mike U.S. Navy

The City of Forest Grove has received permission from the Governor to lower flags to half-staff to honor David on the day of his service. Could someone please let me know when his service is scheduled?

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization (formed 2009) with groups throughout the country who work to send handmade prayer shawls and/or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one while serving our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church of Mechanicsburg, PA would like to extend our sincere sympathy and to honor your loved one's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a prayer gift. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses of those who would like to receive one and which gift they would like to receive. We will send our gift as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved on who died while serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address. May God bless you and comfort you in the days and years ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

I met David a few years ago when he began playing Ultimate frisbee with our lunchtime group. A natural athlete, his lack of experience in the game was immediately overcome by his enthusiasm to learn and willingness to be a good teammate. He was a fun guy to be around and always willing to stick around to learn, share a story, or just hang out. His dedication to his job in the police force was evident.
We were, perhaps, but a small part of his life, but he made an impact on ours. When we heard of his passing we gathered on the field that day and shared our thoughts of him.
May he rest in peace, and may his friends and family take comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of those around him.
