David Bauders Obituary

David Allan Bauders II

David Allan Bauders II was born 04-28-1991 in New York State. In his childhood, David traveled the country with his father's US Army service. David attended Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, OR, before receiving a full US Army ROTC scholarship to attend the University of Portland. David graduated from the University of Portland in 2013, attaining a BA degree in sociology with a minor in psychology, and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Washington Army National Guard. David attained the rank of First Lieutenant and was assigned to the 176th Engineer Company, based in Snohomish, WA. As a civilian, David served as a Trooper for the Washington State Patrol, where he completed academy in early 2014 and was assigned to the Seattle detachment. In early 2016, David was deployed with his National Guard unit for a tour in Kuwait and Iraq. David passed away on 05-06-2016 at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq. David will receive full military honors and will be interred at a military cemetery. David is survived by his mother, father, and two sisters. David's family is requesting donations in David's honor to the Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund (LEOMF).

I am sorry for your loss. May the God of comfort be with you during your time of mourning. Isaiah 61:1,2 ; Matthew 5:4

I did not know Lt Bauders, or his family. I learned of his passing by fate. Someone had placed an American flag at our Veterans Memorial Park in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The flag stick was stuck into the corner of four blank bricks and on the shaft was a tag with a picture and information about the Lt. and what had happened. I hope to find the person who must be a family member or very close friend to David, who must be living in this area so I can help them with having a brick engraved in memory of Lt. Bauders. I am a Vet. and take care of the flags and bricks at the park. Contact me: Mike Sinyard, 478-396-7775. With all due respects and condolences, Mike U.S. Navy

The City of Forest Grove has received permission from the Governor to lower flags to half-staff to honor David on the day of his service. Could someone please let me know when his service is scheduled?

I met David a few years ago when he began playing Ultimate frisbee with our lunchtime group. A natural athlete, his lack of experience in the game was immediately overcome by his enthusiasm to learn and willingness to be a good teammate. He was a fun guy to be around and always willing to stick around to learn, share a story, or just hang out. His dedication to his job in the police force was evident.
We were, perhaps, but a small part of his life, but he made an impact on ours. When we heard of his passing we gathered on the field that day and shared our thoughts of him.
May he rest in peace, and may his friends and family take comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of those around him.
