A.P. Lehner Obituary
A.P. "Al" Lehner peacefully passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Al was born 91 years earlier on September 26,
1925 on a Passenger Train in Grand Central Station in New York, New York. His family vacationed around Long Island and Hudson Bay. When Al was 10 his family moved to Denver, Colorado where Al stayed until he joined the U.S. Navy.
At the age of 17 Al signed up, he made it through boot camp and became an apprentice seamen then shipped out to Hawaii in 1942. He spent 54 months aboard a PT boat and "Island hopped" from Guadalcanal to Leyte in the same group as the famous PT-109, Jack Kennedy's boat was assigned. Al's PT boat was sunk and he became a POW and managed to escape and swam to the island of Cebu in the Philippines. Al retired in 1965 from Naval Air Station Sand Point as a Chief Petty Officer with twenty-four years of dedicated service.
Al continued his career with local companies as a Purchasing Agent and a Vice President. He also volunteered at Naval Station Everett - Smokey Point in the Retired Affairs Office.
Al was active in the Masonic Lodges, Scottish Rite and Nile Shrine. AL was coronated a 33rd Degree by the Seattle Valley Scottish Rite, for his many years of service on October 24 1999. Al is preceded in death by "Betty Jo" his wife of 62 years and his older sister Evelyn Dorothy Lehner.
Survived by his wife Carol L. Lehner and his daughter Terry Ann Stevenson (William).

Celebration of Life will be at the Nile Shrine Center December 11, 2016 from 12 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Nile Shrine D.A.D. Fund or Shriners Children's Hospital.

Mr. Lehner (Chief), I had the privilege of getting to know you as a volunteer with the Navy Retired Activities Office. I will always cherish our conversations my friend. I will also greatly miss your company at the office. Farewell Shipmate, Rest in Peace.
