Dirk Kilgore was my science teacher in 6th grade and I had the privilege to have him as my guide during the Marine Biology trip I took with him and a group of my peers in 7th grade. I'm not sure even how to describe it, but something about his presence as a teacher has stuck with me after all of these years. I am a sophomore in college now and I still think about how much he made an impact on my life and how great of a teacher he was. He is sorely missed and I know that he knows that. My condolences to his family. He was a treasure.

I had Mr. Kilgore as a teacher in middle school and he was nothing but kind and gracious to me. I remember his very well and we had a special relationship. Truly a great man that will be remembered in Lake Stevens.

Dirk was a good person and a good teacher. Not many give up a corporate career to teach middle school. We miss him.

Dirk was a wonderful teacher and friend. We spent many hours enjoying our job and sharing the art of teaching. He made learning fun and compelling for everyone, which is not easy in middle school. I will miss his contagious smile, his laughter, unique teaching teaching style, and the man he was. May God bless your family in this time of sorrow and rejoice in the man who touched touched so many lives.

My daughter was lucky to have Mr. Kilgore as her first period science teacher two years ago. She was extremely nervous going to a new school and Mr. Kilgore personally spoke to her and let her know it was going to be okay. She said he made her laugh and would come home and tell me about all of the fun ways he would teach the lessons. He sparked a love of science in her and his classroom was a fun and safe place to be. My daughter and myself will forever be touched by his kindness. Our prayers go out to the Kilgore family. With love - Mrs. Butler

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Dirk will always be a part of our NLMS family! I will miss coming to work everyday and seeing him( and hearing him rock to Miley Cyrus party in the USA)! We had so much in our 500 building and teaching science together! He will be missed by everyone that had the opportunity to pass through his classroom!
