Martha Ware Obituary

Martha F. (Davis) Ware, age 90, recently of Carrollton, MO passed from an Angel of Earth to an Angel Of Heaven on January 28, 2013.

Martha was born on July 20, 1922 to the Reverend David R. and Martha Oberia (Benoist) Davis, in Salem, MO, in the Methodist Parsonage. Growing up, Martha followed her family from parsonage to parsonage on their Methodist Church circuit.

Martha attended schools in Licking, Hallsville, Defiance, Francis Howell and graduated from Gorin, MO. She attended Kirksville's Teachers' College. Martha taught at the Ware School near Lock Springs before she met her future husband of the Ware name. She also taught at Maple Grove and Breckenridge.

Martha also worked at the Pentagon in Alexandria, Virginia; Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO as a verse writer; the Chillicothe Welfare Office; and Equifax in Sedalia, MO.

After years of dating and numerous " War love letters" throughout 1942-1945, Martha married the love of her life and best friend, Wendell M. Ware. They were married on October 30, 1945 at her parents' house in Chillicothe, MO. They traveled hand in hand to several communities including Springfield, Bronaugh, Garden City, Stanberry, Cole Camp, Sedalia and Carrollton. This blessed union gave life to daughters, Debby and Wendy who traveled with their parents on these journeys.

In addition to being a shy but gifted writer, Martha loved rainy days, reading, genealogy, philately, music and nature. One of her poems was a feature page in the Ozarks Mountaineer Magazine.

Martha is survived by daughters, Debby Jackson and husband Lonnie, of Carrollton, MO, and Wendy Ware of Branson, MO; one brother, Howard Davis and wife Hana, of New York; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five siblings: Elmer G. Davis, David Davis, Richard Davis, Harry B. Davis and Margaret Davis Owen.

All who were fortunate enough to know " Marty" Ware agree that she is a gentle spirited soul and a loving and loved angel who will be missed more than any words can express.
