BECK SEDALIA - Junior Ray Beck, 85, of Sedalia, died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was cremated. Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home in Sedalia. Arrangements are under the direction of Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home.

GOODRICH WINDSOR - Robert L. "Bob" Goodrich, 76, of rural Windsor, died Monday, July 20, 2015, at his home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the Calhoun Cemetery in Calhoun with Msgr. Bradley Offutt officiating. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Lutjen, Donald* - Independence  
Donald Lee "Donnie" Lutjen INDEPENDENCE — Donald Lee "Donnie" Lutjen, age 34 of Independence Mo , passed away on July 26, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at Noland Road Chapel on July 30th. Visitation will be at 5:00 and the service will begin at 6:00. Donnie was born on October 15, 1980. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He had a gift of making others feel important and loved. He will be missed terribly. He is proceeded in death by his grandmother Alberta "Bert" Brandkamp. He is survived by his mother Janet Howard, father and stepmother Marvin and Darlene Lutjen, sisters Heather Borchardt, Rebecca Lutjen, A'Lisha Shields, and a large and loving extended family. McClelland, Helen* - Kansas City  
Helen Ilene McClelland KANSAS CITY — Helen Ilene McClelland, 91, of Kansas City, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at Liberty Hospital. She was born February 28, 1924, in Ellandale, MN, daughter of Joseph and Irma Leona Vanslyke Walker. She was married to Carroll Brauer. In 1964, she married Stanley Holt, who preceded her in death in 1977. On May 14, 1985, she married Walter McClelland, who preceded her in death on August 30, 1999. Mrs. McClelland worked at Sedalia Middle School as a cook. She had also worked for Mallory Bakery. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church when she lived in Sedalia, and joined King of Kings Lutheran Church while living in Kansas City. She had also been a member of the Eastern Star and Order of Beauceant. She enjoyed playing canasta, cards, reading, cooking and gardening. Surviving are a daughter, Tammie Popp, and husband, Michael, of Kansas City; four grandchildren, Angie (Brauer) Arndt, John Robert Brauer, Brian Popp and Scott Popp; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Brauer, of Sedalia. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, William and Robert Brauer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Frank Greene officiating. Casket bearers will be Michael Popp, Brian Popp, Scott Popp, John Brauer and Tim Wheeler. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Koinonia Heights.

Mickens, Ellen* - Sedalia  
Ellen Jane Mickens SEDALIA — Ellen Jane Mickens, 90, of Sedalia, passed away Friday evening, July 24, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born December 12, 1924, in Aurora, IL, daughter of Robert and Mary Agnes Davis. On July 25, 1944, in Couer d'Alene, ID, she married Kenneth William Mickens, who preceded her in death on February 4, 2012. Mrs. Mickens was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She had worked at Inter-State Studios and was the manager at Top Value Stamp Company. She was a member of Eastern Star, enjoyed playing Bingo, and doing crossword and word puzzles. Surviving are three children, Mary Lou Black, of Columbia, Betty Ellen Schuster (Ron), of Winfield, IL, and Dr. Kenneth William Mickens II (Kris), of Louisville, CO; nine grandchildren, James Black (Kristy), Laetitia Jane Craig, Jeffery Black, Benjamin Black, Theresa Clarke (Joe), Phillip Schuster, Kenneth W. Mickens III, Kassandra Mickens and Kaylee Mickens; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances, Willeen and Betty Ann; and a brother, J.R. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice.

Morarity, Dorothy* - Metamora  
Dorothy M. Morarity METAMORA, Ill. — Dorothy M. Morarity, 94, of Metamora, IL, formerly of La Monte, MO passed away and went to be with the Lord at 6:03 am on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Snyder Village. She was born on July 5, 1921 in Metamora, IL to John and Gertrude (Chilly) DuBois. She married Steve Morarity on May 19, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Metamora. He died on August 25, 1997. Surviving are two daughters Peg (Carl) Heinz and Linda Schupp both of Metamora; six grandchildren Calista (Casey) Kelly of East Peoria, Vincent (Adnybel) Heinz of Lake Barrington, IL, Duane (Sandra) Schupp of Tonica, IL, Theresa (Mike) Nordbusch of Strongville, OH, Angela (Mike) Ealey and Carolyn (Erik) Hackett both of Metamora; twelve great-grandchildren, Declan and Aislin Kelley, Lucas Heinz, Dominique and Demetrius Schupp, Kirk and Rachel Nordbusch, Mitchell and Quinton Ealey, and Arianna, Dietrich, and Kiara Hackett. She was preceded in death by son-in-law Jim Schupp, five brothers, and one sister. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Metamora and St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a past Chaplain. She was the 2011 Rosary Maker of the Year, making 2 to 3 thousand rosaries per year which are then given out world-wide. Her picture was used in medical advertisements across the nation. She loved to play cards with the family and being a farmer's wife. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Metamora with Father Greg Jozefiak and Father John Verrier officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Metamora. Sweet, Galen* - Sedalia  
GALEN CLARK SWEET SEDALIA — Galen Clark Sweet, 73, of Sedalia passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2015. Galen was born in McPherson, KS on January 22, 1942. He is survived by his former spouse, Irene Sweet, of Independence; daughter, Kathy Garrison (George Garrison), of Sedalia; son, James Sweet (Abby Sweet), of Lee's Summit; 3 grandchildren, Garrett Garrison, Thomas Todd, and Kaitlin Garrison; 1 brother, Raymond Sweet, of Lee's Summit; and step-sister, Paulette Bass, of California. Galen served 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1980. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics from University of Central Missouri in 1983. In 1995, he retired from the Internal Revenue Service. One of Galen's favorite things to do was to garden. Family would often find him outside working in the garden after work. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Galen was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Ashburn and Marion Ashburn; 3 brothers, David (Dawyne) Sweet, Gary Sweet, and Neal Sweet. Graveside services will be at 2pm on Thursday July 30 at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 30501 Carpenter Rd, Sedalia, MO. Arrangements by Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit, MO.
