ROWLES COLUMBIA - Lois Elaine Rowles, 65, of Syracuse, died Friday, June 17, 2016, at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Columbia. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Inurnment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tipton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.

Setzer, Ruby* - Sedalia  
Ruby Lou Setzer SEDALIA — Ruby Lou Setzer, 79, of Green Ridge, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home. She was born April 9, 1937, in Harrison County, MO, daughter of Corydon and Lula Long Hudson. On August 27, 1955, at her parents' home in Ballard, MO, she was married by her father to Richard Dale Setzer, who survives of the home. Ruby was a 1955 graduate of Ballard High School. She worked at International Shoe in Windsor and then at Lamy Manufacturing in Sedalia, until her retirement. Mrs. Setzer was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, collecting rooster figurines, sewing and reading. Ruby loved her family, especially her grandkids, and she loved being on the farm. In addition to her husband of 60 years, survivors include three children, Roger Setzer (Celia), of Green Ridge, Dewayne Setzer (Sonia), of Sedalia, and Ronda Mattingly (Jim), of Sedalia; five granddaughters, Kara, Krista, Amber, Sarah and Samantha; two step grandchildren, LaTrisha and Larry; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Jones, of Parkville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McCartney. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Hankins officiating. Casket bearers will be Tom Paul, Dale Adams, Jim Mattingly, Dave Mitchell, Darby Sharp, Tim Caldwell, Tony Caldwell and Don McCartney. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are recommended to Antioch Cemetery or Antioch Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.

Swopes, Emma* - Sedalia  
Emma Lou Swopes SEDALIA — Emma Lou Swopes age 90 of Hughesville died on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on March 30, 1926 in Sedalia daughter of Charles H. and Clara Sievers Mittenburg. On October 22, 1949 in Warsaw she married Dewey M. Swopes and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1995. Emma was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Blind Of Central Missouri, Jolly Elders, Hughesville Women's Club and Hughesville Community Betterment Club. She also was a 4-H leader for more than thirty years. She is survived by her daughter; Linda Gerken (Gary) of Hughesville, two grandchildren; Terrica Sanders (Edward) and Greg Gerken (Diana), four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters and a brother. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Sisney and Don Abney officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Swopes, Gearry Swopes, Herb Houston, Terry Anderson, Ron Smith and Paul James. Burial will be in Mt. Herman Cemetery north of Sedalia. Vannoy, Evelyn* - Sedalia  
Evelyn Mae Vannoy SEDALIA — Evelyn Mae Vannoy age 96 formerly of Hughesville died on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on August 12, 1919 in Green Ridge, daughter of Charles and Eva Ream Upton. On April 9, 1938 in Green Ridge she married Everett Vannoy and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2002. Evelyn graduated from Green Ridge School District. She was a homemaker and a farm wife. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful baker. A past member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Evelyn later was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Evelyn was a grandmother extraordinaire, loving mother and wife. She was a devoted caregiver in her husbands later years. Evelyn was a long time resident of the Hughesville area, where she served as a 4-H leader for a number of years. She is survived by two sons; Dean Vannoy (Sharon) of Hughesville, Harold Vannoy (Anna Lee) of Rochester Hills, Michigan, one brother; Robert Upton of Sedalia, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son; Dale Vannoy, one brother; Julian Upton, one sister Elinor Upton. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Upton, David Upton, Shannon Teeter, Leon Telgemeier, Bob McKeehan and Chad McKeehan. Honorary Pallbearer will be Neil Upton. Walters, Margaret* - Sedalia  
Margaret Lodelle Walters SEDALIA — Margaret Lodelle Walters, 80, of Sedalia, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born November 11, 1935, in Sedalia, daughter of Elijah and Lida Edna Davis Cook. On September 2, 1956, at East Sedalia Baptist Church, she was united in marriage to Edwin Albert Walters. Margaret enjoyed gardening and cooking. She entered cooking competitions at the State Fair and was a "cookie champion." She was kind, caring, never complained and always put others first. She was a great mom, grandma and great-grandma. She had a special love for her dog, Peanut. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by four children, Rhonda Warnke (Dietrick), of Stover, Renay Walters Moriarty, of Branson, Rodney Walters (Tina), of Sedalia, and Rance Walters (Tiffany), of Sedalia; ten grandchildren, Justin Warnke, Lucas Warnke, Brenan Moriarty, Brooke Moriarty, Trenton Walters, Aaron Walters, Kaitlyn Walters, Rush Walters, Rachel Walters and Rexford Walters; two great-grandchildren, Cole Warnke and Claire Warnke; a brother, Milton Cook, of Arnold, MO; and a son-in-law, whom she considered a son, Bart Moriarty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Cook; and two sisters, Maureen Cook and Ferrol Long. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Cooper officiating. Casket bearers will be her grandsons. Honorary bearers will be her granddaughters. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Heckart Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to East Sedalia Baptist Church.

Watson, Billy* - Versailles  
Billy Lee Watson VERSAILLES — Billy Lee Watson, 84, of Sedalia, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. He was born August 24, 1931, in Sedalia, son of Oscar and Nora Fleming Watson. Mr. Watson worked for Walker Publishing and later Inter-State Studios as a printing pressman. He was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, and watching Cardinals and Royals baseball. Billy was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; three children, Marty Watson (Luella), Keith Watson, and Roger Watson (Kerri), all of Lincoln, NE; daughter-in-law, Gail Watson, of Richmond, MO; six grandchildren, Barbara, Alexis, Kirstie, Alex, Spencer and Sam; and a great-granddaughter, Grace. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Watson; two brothers, Sam Watson and Oscar "Bus" Watson; and a sister, Dorothy Parker. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Jeff Page officiating. Casket bearers will be David Watson, Alex Watson, Travis Guthrie, Clyde Schwermer, Bob Engles and John "Bull" Higgins. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Air Force and VFW Post 2591. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Heckart Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to East Sedalia Baptist Church.
