SMITHTON — Buddy Moore, 80, of Smithton, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at his home. He was born on December 2, 1933 in Sedalia, son of Joseph Robert and Leone Elizabeth Shaw Moore. On November 1, 1953 in Sedalia he married Anna Ruth King and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2013.
Buddy graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1951. He worked at Pittsburg Corning Company for several years. He then worked for the City of Sedalia as the superintendent of Crown Hill Cemetery for 21 years. After retiring from the cemetery he worked part-time at Ewing Funeral Home. He was baptized in 1985 at East Sedalia Baptist Church, where he was very active and served as a Deacon.
Buddy enjoyed being a joker, prankster and teasing everyone he could. He loved children, not only his own but all children. Buddy was a great role model not only to his family, but also his friends and anyone he came into contact with. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was a very devoted caregiver to his wife Ruth.
He is survived by his children; Michael J. Moore (Katherine) of Broomfield, Colorado, Glynda A. Taylor of Springfield, Rebecca L. Thomas and Richard Moore (Laura) both of Sedalia, four grandchildren; Matthew Harvey, Amy Ditzfeld, Ryan Webb and Lindsey Thomas, seven great-grandchildren, four brothers; Dee Moore, Bobby Moore, Glen Moore and Donald Moore, two sisters; Betty Lou Moore and Patricia Groshans.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother J.L. Moore.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Webb, David Moore, Glenn Moore, Matthew Harvey, Rick Rios and Steve Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Amy Ditzfeld, Gary Moore and Lindsey Thomas. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
