Dora Inis Marie Baker, 97, of Sedalia, died on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born in rural Morgan County on September 18, 1912, the daughter of James H. and Gertrude Forster. Dora and Edward Perry Baker were married on June 1, 1929.
Dora was a wonderful wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She enjoyed sharing the history of her life with anyone interested. Her detailed memory added greatly to the stories she would tell.
Dora worked as a sales clerk in several fabric stores. Her friends and family were important to her and she loved to visit. She spent her spare time sewing, quilting, gardening and reading. And her home was her pride and joy. Dora was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church for many years.
Dora is survived by her son Paul Baker of Sedalia; two daughters, Ethel Landes of Joplin and Sandy McDonald of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and numerous friends. Dora also had 3 brothers and four sisters.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Barbara Jean Stryffeler.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Donald Allcorn will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Dora's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00AM until service time on Thursday.
