Imogene A. Martensen

LATHAM — Imogene A. Martensen, 79, of Latham, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at her home. She was born June 3, 1934, in Florence, a daughter of the late Walter W. and Opal (Kurtz) Schroder.

On May 16, 1953, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Florence, she was united in marriage to her surviving husband, W.D. "Bill" Martensen.

Imogene worked as an LPN for many years. She was a member of the Fortuna Baptist Church. Her favorite hobbies included sewing, walking, cooking and baking.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by her sons, Rick Martensen and wife Val of Versailles and Rex Martensen and wife Cindy of California; her daughters, Marcia Azan and husband Abe of Sedalia and Marcella Schuffman and husband Dorn of Columbia; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Duane Schroder and wife Judy and Leo Schroder and wife Bobbi, both of Smithton; sisters, Wanda Potter of California, Priscilla Richey of High Point and Fran Schilb and husband Randy and Shirley Potter and husband Terry, both of Columbia; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Schroder and a grandson, Waylon Martensen.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Tipton First Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Chatman, Gary Payne and Brad Homan officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery near Florence.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
