Jean Alice Claxton, 88, of Eldon died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. She was born on April 2, 1925, in Leadmine, MO, to W.E. and Maude Barclay. On Feb. 21, 1942, she marrid Bud Claxton, who preceded her in death.
The youngest of 11 children with musical talents, Mrs. Claxton was playing the mandolin at age 5 and learned a total of 12 instruments. She was in Lebanon's marching band, concert band, choir, and received many awards. She performed at churches and family reunions and at age 88 was still playing the organ. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Alma Wilson, 100, of Lebanon; three children: Carolyn, Ronnie and Randy; Ron's two sons: Dwaine and Brett, and Carolyn's two sons: Bryan and Chad; and 10 grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home, Springfield.
