John J. (June) Cornine, 88, of Marshall Junction, died Sunday, October 28, 2012, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com
Born April 30, 1924, in Pettis County, MO, he was the son of the late John Robert Cornine and Ida Mae Mullins Cornine. On February 6, 1946, he married Hazel Mitchell who survives of the home. He had lived in Pettis and Saline counties his entire life and was a retired farm implement mechanic having worked at Sedalia Implement Co. and then was self-employed. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II
having served in Africa. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Linda Shedd and husband, Steve, of rural Marshall; and Judy Lutz and husband, Frank, of Bear, DE; two sons: Rick Cornine and wife, Pam, of Longwood, MO; and Tim Cornine and wife, Sandy, of Marshall Junction; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; expecting a first great-great-grandchild in January; one brother, Delmar Cornine, of rural Houstonia; three sisters: Connie Bellis of Paso Robles, CA, Lavina Neale of Fayetteville, AR, and Nancy Darlene Pepper of Columbia, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two great-grandsons; one brother, J R (Jake) Cornine; and three sisters: Lona Courtney, Mabel Walker, and Janie Homan.
