John L. Davidson, age 91, of Stover, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 6, 1918, in Camden, County, a son of Newton Sanford and S. Katherine Brown Davidson, both deceased. On January 18, 1939, in Versailles, John was united in marriage to Clara Mae Raines, who preceded him in death January 28, 1996.
As a young man he farmed and was instrumental in installing the first sewer system in Stover. He worked for several years at Cooper's Store, before retiring from Sousley's DX station, both located in Stover. Following his retirement he assisted his son-in-law in his business.
John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stover.
Survivors include one daughter Lela (Larry) Edzards, Stover; three granddaughters, Annette (Dr. Lindell) Reed, Blue Springs; Dr. Vicki (Dr. David) Edzards-Wang, Medford, Ore.and Monica (Scott)Marshall, Stover; three great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Davidson and a sister, Erma Sidebottom.
Services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, at the First Baptist Church in Stover with Dr. Lindell Reed and Rev. Travis Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
