Lawrence Alan "Larry" Emery, age 73, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Friday evening, April 12, 2013, at his home. He was born on September 27, 1939 in Moundville, Missouri, the son of Geneva and Lawrence V. Emery.
Larry grew up in Moundville, Missouri and graduated from Nevada High School. After high school he received an acting scholarship to attended University of Arkansas. In 1959, he joined the United States Army
, he was stationed in Germany, and served his country for 3 years.
After serving his country, Larry came back to work on the family farm in Moundville. He later moved to Sedalia and started his 30 year career in radio, where he worked for KSIS and KDRO in Sedalia. He invested much of his time during the holiday season serving as Santa Clause for the Sedalia Christmas Parade, and for other families around the area.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #217 of Warsaw, Missouri.
Larry was a master story-teller and loved to be in his garden.
He is survived by; one son, Zachary Emery, of Portland, Oregon, one daughter, Megan Emery-Moore, of Shanghai, China, two sisters: Kathleen Steele and Marilyn McFadden, one brother, Donald Emery, and one granddaughter, Lily.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will also be deeply missed by his three-legged dog, Lucky.
A memorial visitation for Lawrence A. Emery will be held at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday evening, April 19, 2013.
