Robert Eugene Cook
SEDALIA — Mr. Robert Eugene Cook was from Sedalia, MO. He lived in Sedalia for the last 50 years and was proud to be a Sedalian. He died at the age of 88 years at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Columbia, MO on Monday June 23, 2014.
Mr. Cook was born September 21, 1925 in Moniteau County 5 miles northeast of California, MO, of parents who owned Elm Shade Stock Farm. He was a son to William Bryan Cook and Rose Mae Cunningham who preceded in death before him. He also had 2 infant brothers Billy and Roy Cook, a brother Richard Cook, two sisters Cleo Inglish and Dorothy Landes, a daughter Teresa Ann Knapp and a son Victor Eugene Cook, who all preceded him in death.
Robert Cook is survived by a sister Betty Rose Wade, a brother Merlin Wayne Cook, two daughters Bonnie Elaine Weathers, of Sedalia, Wilhelmina Jo Williams, known as Willy, of Smithton, MO, a son Jerry Wayne Cook, of Sedalia, 9 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cook was of Cherokee Indian blood; his great-grandmother was a full-blooded Indian. He also had Pennsavaina Dutch and Scott Irish decent. Heritage and genecology and where he came from were very important to him. His blood line cut deep into his soul and he wore it proudly. He went to Hickman High School in Columbia and Francis Howell High School near St. Charles, MO. In his senior year he graduated early and drafted into the United States Army where he served in World War II.
Mr. Cook was married to Ruby Idora Angle on May 6th, 1946 in Buchanan, Georgia, who preceded him in death. They had 5 children. He married his second wife Sept. 20, 1979 to Willadean Maudlin, of Oklahoma. She preceded him in death April 19, 2008. No children were born of that marriage. Robert was a member of American Legion Post #0642 of 31 years. Member of the Sedalia Moose Lodge 149 since 1972 of 36 years. Honorary Member of MO Sheriffs' Association.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 27th at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Chapman officiating. The family receive friends from 12 Noon until service time. Pallbearers being Ronnie Williams, Ronnie Williams, Jr., Justin Meyer, Rodney Taylor, Kevin Cook and David Williams.
