Robert W. Smith (1925 - 2013)

Robert W. Smith, 87, of Sedalia, passed away April 19, 2013 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born September 9, 1925 in Muncie, Kansas to Mrs. Carrie E. Smith.

Robert Smith and Luella R. Lohuis were married May 28, 1947. Robert adored Luella and they celebrated 61 wonderful years together. Together they had four daughters, Linda, Lea Ann, Leta and Loretta.

Robert was a Shipfitter in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his Honorable Discharge in April, 1946 Robert went to work for Burd and Fletcher Printing Co. Later, he worked for and retired from the Gas Service Co after 35 years of service.

Robert is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Linda and Gary McIntosh of Lake Ozark Missouri; Lea Ann and Jim Neal of Kansas City, Kansas; Leta and Calvin Barnhill of Sun City, Arizona and Loretta and Darrell Wodrich of Wentzville, Missouri. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Zachary Wilson, Krista Neal, Jessica Neal, Brandon Wodrich and Caitlyn Wodrich; two step-grandchildren, Judi Holden and Ami Long; three great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; one step-great great grandchild; and his nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie E. Smith and his beloved wife, Luella R. Smith.

Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, 701 S. Osage Ave., Sedalia, MO. Burial will be at 2:00PM in Higginsville Veteran's Cemetery, Higginsville, Mo, with full Military Honors presented by Pettis County VFW Post 2591.

Robert's family suggests memorial contributions to the MS Society in care of the funeral home.
