Alberta May Vickrey passed away September 7, 2013 in Houston, Texas, at the age of 85. She was born on February 1, 1928, in Sedalia, MO to James Albert Carver and Beulah May Arnold Carver. She was married in 1951 to M. Eugene Vickrey, at Bolivar, MO.
Alberta attended Sedalia Public Schools and graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1946. She graduated from nurses training from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, St. Louis, in 1949. During her career as a nurse, Alberta served as College nurse at Southwest Baptist College. She was a 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corps at the Veterans Hospital in Excelsior Springs, MO, head nurse at Easter Seals in Houston, charge nurse at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, and school nurse at Hollbrook Elementary in Spring Branch.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Marvin Eugene Vickrey, Jr, and her brothers: James Leo Carver, Roscoe Eugene Carver, and Don Allen Carver.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. M. Eugene Vickrey, a daughter, Gina Vickrey Mann (Rev. Jack Mann, Jr.), Cypress, TX, and a son, John Vickrey, Houston, TX, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Private burial services were held September 13, in Houston, TX.
