Beatrice L. (Dillon) Bowers (1921 - 2008)

Beatrice L. Bowers, age 86, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away the 8th day of November, 2008, at her home in El Dorado. She was born in rural Warsaw, Missouri on November 28, 1921, the daughter of Luther E. and Mettie (Swearngin) Dillon. She lived and attended school in the Feaster Community where she grew up.

On October 1, 1938, Beatrice was united in marriage to Herman E. Bowers. They made their home and raised their family on a farm near Warsaw. Unto this union a daughter and a son were born. Beatrice was a devoted wife and loving mother who enjoyed taking care of her family and piecing and quilting quilts for her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cooking big dinners on holidays, for family reunions, or whenever friends or family came to visit. Beatrice was a Christian woman who shared her faith and assisted her husband in his ministry in rural United Methodist Churches in Central and Northern Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman; a brother, Marion Dillon and a sister, Jaunita Yount. She is survived by a daughter, Loretta A. Whitney and husband Darrell of El Dorado, Kansas; a son, Charles Bowers and wife Jeani of Independence, Missouri; six grandchildren, Russell Barbour, San Diego, California, Christina A. Kibler and husband Scott of Wichita, Kansas, Michael Whitney and wife Kristi of Olathe, Kansas, Stephen Bowers and wife Jodi of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Charla Sallee and husband Rob of Oak Grove, Missouri, and Cheri Rasmussen & husband Jason of Independence, Missouri; five great grandchildren, one sister, Izola Schnakenberg of Cole Camp, Missouri; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Missouri, with the Rev. Michael McGuire officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Lincoln, Missouri. A memorial has been established in her name for the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Contributions may be sent in care of Davis-Miller Funeral Home of Lincoln, which is in charge of the arrangements. Friends are invited to family visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home.
