Donald E. "Don" Case, 79, of Stover, died Monday, November 2, 2009, at his home.
He was born November 30, 1929, at Versailles, a son of Louis U. and Cora M. Blackman Case. On April 17, 1954, Don married Greta G. Fajen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover. Greta preceded him in death on June 16, 2009.
Don was a 1947 graduate of Stover High School. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, receiving an associate degree in Business.
He was an Air Force veteran, serving his country in the Korean War, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Don was a carpenter and builder, building many homes in the Stover community. He also managed the family business, Fajen Lumber Company in Stover.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover, using his skills as a master craftsman to build the cross, communion rail and baptismal font at the church.
Don is survived by three children, Jeffery (Patti) Case, Paducah, Kentucky; Julie (Mike) Kern, Grover, Missouri and Leslie (Donnie) Stubblefield, Plainfield, Illinois; two brothers, Harold (Dorean) Case, Stover and Merl (Genevieve) Case, Warrensburg; two sisters, Mary (Dick) Mattoon, Kansas City, Missouri and Ila M. (Bob) May, Sheridan, Wyoming; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents and one sister, Ruth Tope.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 5, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 4, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
