Edward Daniel Meisenheimer, 68, of Pilot Grove, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Meisenheimer was born on August 27, 1945, in Boonville, MO to Paul Edward and Helen Elizabeth (Schupp) Meisenheimer. He was married on May 8, 1971 to Barbara Duckworth, who preceded him in death in June 2000. He married Kathleen (Root) Tavenner on October 18, 2003, who survives of the home.
He graduated from Pilot Grove High School, attended CMSC in Warrensburg, and graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1967. He worked for various funeral homes in Sedalia, Fulton, and Boonville before entering the Army in 1969. In 1975, he and his brother purchased the Painter-Woodard Funeral Home in Pilot Grove and Otterville, currently named the Meisenheimer Funeral Home. In 1989, they built a new funeral home in Tipton, MO. He was a member of the Pilot Grove Community Church, Pilot Grove Lion's Club and a Melvin Jones Recipient, American Legion Post #266, VFW and Disabled American Veterans, Katy Manor Nursing Home Board, and Gideons of the Boonslick Community. He served on the Pilot Grove City Council for over twenty years. He received the Purple Heart serving during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three children: Chris Meisenheimer, of Pilot Grove; Jennifer (Ken) Anderson, of Columbia; Stephanie (Chad) Jackson, of Sedalia; four step-children: Sandy (Scott) Reynolds, of Pilot Grove; Rhonda (Andy) Stoecklein, of Eldon; Laura (Aaron) Franklin, of Columbia; and Bobby (Michelle) Tavenner, of Pilot Grove; six grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; two brothers: Jerry (Karen) Meisenheimer, of Blue Springs, and Kenneth (Sandy) Meisenheimer, of Pilot Grove and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11: 00 AM, Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Pilot Grove Community Church, with burial in the St. Paul's Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul's Cemetery, Pilot Grove Community Church, Gideons International or Friends of the Diamond for dugout renovations.
