Erney Durrill, 79, of Sedalia, passed away on March 28, 2013. He was born September 30, 1933 in Spring Fork, MO, the son of Otha and Minnie (Nolte) Durrill. Erney and Gladys "Tootsie" Irene Shipps were married on October 13, 1962 in Windsor. Tootsie survives of the home.
Mr. Durrill graduated from Green Ridge High School in 1952. In 1954 he went into the U.S. Army until 1957. When he got out he started cleaning and installing carpets in K.C. In 1961 he opened up his own business in Sedalia. Erney retired in 1997.
Erney enjoyed working on the farm, baling hay and driving his tractor. He also liked to hunt and fish.
Erney was a member of the American Legion Post 491 of Green Ridge and the Central Missouri Coon Club.
In addition to his wife, Erney is survived by his son, Thomas Lynn Durrill and his wife, Kim; two grandchildren: Brandon and Amanda Durrill; two great grandchildren; his brother, Elvis Durrill; and his sister, Gerry Carrico.
Erney was preceded in death by his parents; and 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Monday, April 1, 2013, at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with Rev. Elvis Durrill officiating. Pallbearers will be: Bruce Morton, Tony A. Turner, Jr., Toby Brown, Donald Sullivan, Larry Brown and Doug Willig. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Donnie Brown, Gene Hollenbeck, Norman Morton, Connie Sullivan, Lyle Street, John Detherage, Jim Carter and Carolyn Purchase. Burial will be at Hickory Point Cemetery, Green Ridge.
Erney's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00AM until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Tootsie Durrill in care of the funeral home.
