Floyd Melvin Tinker (1928 - 2012)

Floyd Melvin Tinker, 83, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home. He was born on November 11, 1928, in Ionia, MO, a son of Thomas Nelson and Anna Mae (Parsons) Tinker.

On August 29, 1946 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Nila Lee Canaday, who survives of the home.

He worked for Pittsburg Corning, Sedalia for 35 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. Floyd was a master woodworker and artist. He enjoyed creating and working with his hands. Floyd loved his devoted dog, Sue Lynn. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Sedalia and a former member of Pettis County Underwater Rescue Squad.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children: Cynthia Haught (Tony) of Centerville, TN, Vicki Lacey (Johnny) of Sedalia and Dennis Tinker of Springfield, MO; five grandchildren: Chris, Kevin, Tim, Lori and Terra; four great grandchildren: T.J., Matt, Jackson and Parker; two step grandchildren, Wendy and Kelly; thirteen step great grandchildren and one step great great
grandchild.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ray Tinker and a daughter-in-law, Margie Tinker.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Craig Bowen officiating.

Honorary bearers will be Wayne Tucker, Allen Spratley, Dick Kraus, Guy Cole, Tony Haught and Johnny Morris.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

A private family burial will be held in the Ionia Christian Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus, Jefferson City in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
