Goldie Marie Blaylock, 81, of Sedalia, passed away on August 8, 2011. She was born October 12, 1929, the daughter of William Martin and Virgie Cross. At about 2 years of age she was adopted by an aunt and uncle, William H. and Maude J. (Funk) Hilt.
Goldie and Charles Blaylock were married on November 10, 1950. Charles preceded her in death on June 4, 2011.
Goldie was born in Appanoose County, Iowa. She lived an active life filled with the Lord, her family and many friends. In addition to being a wife and mother, Goldie was a Sunday school and vacation bible school teacher and director for many years. She was active in 4-H, PTA, Hopewell Homemakers Extension Club and the Pettis County Extension Council. Goldie was an Assistant Superintendent for the Home Economics Building of the Missouri State Fair for many years. Her love of flowers provided many hours of joy and entertainment as she worked her numerous flower gardens.
Goldie had many personal missions in life, including correspondence with missionaries and praying and encouraging others.
Goldie is survived by her daughter Nancy Richmond and husband Leon; 3 sons, Stan Blaylock and wife Susan, Steve Blaylock and wife Robin and Tom Blaylock and wife Marty; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Goldie was preceded in death by an infant daughter Anita Marie Blaylock; Carl Cross and Mae Jones, her brother and sister, Charlie Cross, Bertha Andrews, Floyd Cross, and Martha Cross, half brothers and sisters, and her husband and parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Duchesne officiating. Pallbearers will be Ivan Ream, Alan Ream, Dale Rhoads, Wayne Rhoads, John E. Blaylock and John W, Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
Goldie's family will receive friends on Sunday, August 14, from 6:00 until 8::00PM at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 3:00PM.
The Blaylock family suggests memorial contributions to Olive Branch Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
