Harold Koehler Obituary

Harold Irvine Koehler, 94, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

He was born August 3, 1916, in the Pilsner district of South Chicago, IL, the son of Charles and Marie Turczynski Koehler. On December 2, 1942, in Sedalia, he married Sylvia Irene Dobson, who preceded him in death on September 29, 1997. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Bobbie Lee Tipton, on December 6, 1950.

Mr. Koehler was a sheet metal worker for Anderson Heating and Air Conditioning Company and the Greg Conner Corporation, both in Sedalia. For 64 years, he was a member of Local Union No. 2 Sheet Metal Workers International Association in Kansas City, MO. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal in the 2114th Service Unit.

Surviving are a son, Bill Koehler, and his wife, Diana, of Riverview, FL; a grandson, Joshua Koehler, and his wife, Aisha, of Portage, MI; a granddaughter, Erika Doyen, and her husband, Gary, of Lakeland, FL; and four great grandchildren, Alyssa Ford, Jacob Koehler, Eryn Laker and Jared Doyen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, in the Colonial Chapel at Heckart Funeral Home, with Elder Sara Tubbesing officiating.

Pallbearers will be Carl Clopton, Erika Doyen, Max Frisby, Joshua Koehler and Sharon Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Hammond, James Sullivan and Ardyth Turner.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, with military honors by VFW Post 2591. A reception and lunch will follow burial at the Heckart Family Center.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Heckart Funeral Home.
