Harold Mitchell "Red" Harvey, 80, of Sedalia passed away on Sunday May 6, 2012 with his family by his side.

He was born on October 1, 1931 in Hughesville, Missouri son of Paul and Beulah Bratton Harvey. He was married on July 4, 1952 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to C. Elaine Paxton ,and she survives of the home. Red and Elaine would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.

Mr. Harvey spent his elementary school years at Walnut Grove School in the Hughesville area, before attending Smith-Cotton High School, graduating in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 15, 1952, and spent a year in Seoul, South Korea during the Korean Conflict. After four years of service, he returned to Sedalia and went to work at the Western Auto Store. It was also during this time that Red became involved in coaching little league baseball, which he continued to do for many years. He worked a short time at Skelgas Co. and in 1970 began working for B.F. Goodrich and K&S Tire Service. Fifteen years later, Red and his brother assumed ownership of K&S Tire Service until its closure in 1990. In the few years prior to his retirement, in 1996, he went to work at the Pettis County Road District. Following his retirement, Red worked for Crow Burlingame Co. from 2002 to 2009. He was a member of the VFW Lodge Post #2591.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons: Gary Harvey (Beverly) of Blue Springs, Larry Harvey (Rachel) of Sagrada Beach, Randy Harvey (Cindy) of Sedalia; two daughters: Rhonda Quigley (Dave) and Roberta Lemieux (Chris Lewis) both of Sedalia; a brother: Robert D. Harvey (Lelah Ann); a sister: Anna Lee Bail, both of Sedalia; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Geneva Ruth "Babe" Ray; a son: Richard M. "Rick" Harvey; and two grandchildren: Cori L. Harvey and Trenton P. Quigley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 with Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Sedalia, with Military Honors conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard of Wichita, Kansas.

Pallbearers will be Red's grandsons: Craig Harvey, Tyler Harvey, Sheldon Harvey, Brandon Minkler, Todd Harvey; and son-in-law, Chris Lewis.
