Ken R. Brown, 76, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born on December 27, 1937, the son of Earl and Inez Adair Brown.
He graduated from Leeton High School in 1956 and received his Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
On November 29, 1958, he married Martha Burford. They made their home in Warrensburg, moving to Warsaw in 1960.
Ken taught at Warsaw High School for 8 years. In 1968, he began Village Realty in Warsaw.
Ken had served as City Alderman of Ward I for 20 years and then as the Mayor of Warsaw for two terms. He was a member of the Warsaw First United Methodist Church, the Warsaw Lion's Club, a Cub Scout Leader as well as an Eagle Scout. He had served as the Benton County Democratic Committee Chairman, on the Democratic Senatorial District # 21 for several years and also the Missouri State Democratic Board for one term. He had served as Chairman of the Whiteman Base Community Council and a member of the State Fair Community College Board of Trustees.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bart Brown, on April 4, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home, and one brother, Dennis Brown of Stover, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 30, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw. Family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M., Monday at the church. Memorials to the Bart Brown Scholarship Fund at University of Central Missouri in care of the Reser Funeral Home, P.O.
