Lynn Dale Sanders

1927 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Lynn Dale Sanders, age 86, of Carrollton, MO, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home. He was born on October 18, 1927, in Wakenda, MO, to the union of Harry Winston and Geneva Wilson Sanders. He attended Elderbloom Grade School and graduated from Wakenda High School in 1945. On September 25, 1945, Lynn married the love of his life, Marie Kathryn Huffman, in Kansas City, KS. They enjoyed nearly 65 years of sharing farm life together until Marie's passing in June of 2010. Lynn was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church.

Lynn knew from early boyhood, that farming would be his lifelong love and vocation. Lynn found the perfect farm wife in Marie, who had also grown up in a local farm family as he had. They each had walked to the same one room school house to attend the first grade. Lynn and Marie enjoyed farm life in the Missouri River bottoms successfully growing crops, in particular he loved growing corn, raising livestock and generously sharing bountiful gardens with their family and friends.

In 1992, they moved to their farm east of Carrollton, where they built their current home and began to enjoy semi-retirement with more time for Lynn to go fishing. Lynn's love of farming never ceased and only this year due to ill health did he give up his position as senior combine operator. Lynn and Marie loved having family and friends to visit their home and their door was always open to them.

Lynn is survived by three sons: Gary Sanders and wife Cheryl, Bill Sanders and wife Nancy, all of Carrollton, MO, and Ed Sanders and wife Carol, of Sedalia, MO; five grandchildren, Lynnette Cowherd and husband Chris, of Carrollton, MO, Natalie Skinner and husband Evan, of Shawnee, KS, John Sanders and wife Carmen, of Carrollton, MO, Sara Sanders, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Grant Sanders, of Mountain View, CA; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Travis Sanders and wife Sue, of Odessa, MO; three sisters: Jan Cowick, of Independence, MO, Judy Bruce and husband Bob, of Bosworth, MO, Vickie Sowers and husband Eric, of Chesterfield, MO; one sister-in-law Jean Famuliner, of Carrollton, MO; a very special cousin, Darla Hood, of Cape Coral, FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Geneva, his wife, Marie, brothers-in-law, Frank Cowick and Sherman Famuliner and one nephew, Charles Burgess Sanders.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, 1201 North 65 Highway, Carrollton, MO.

Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bittiker Funeral Home, with Reverend Anselm Williams and Reverend Cheryl Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, MO.
