Robert Jefferson "Bob" Scott, of Bloomsdale, MO, formerly of Sedalia, passed away after a long illness Friday, September 13, 2013, at his home in Bloomsdale, MO.
Bob was born September 16, 1923 on the Scott Family farm in northeastern Pettis County. He was the son of the late Adam Patrick and Ada Spires Scott. On June 13, 1964, he was married to Margie Ann Dietzfelbinger, daughter of John and Isabell Dietzfelbinger of Bloomsdale, MO. Margie preceded him in death on April 19, 1998.
Bob spent his early childhood attending Woodland Grade School close to the Scott Family farm. After moving to Sedalia, he attended Smith-Cotton High School and graduated in 1942. He entered the United States Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He was a radio technician and was stationed in China, Burma and India. He flew on many missions over the "Hump". He received several honorable mention awards for his service while he was on duty overseas. After his discharge from the Air Force, he enrolled in Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated in 1952. Bob and Margie both worked in St. Louis. Bob was employed by Westinghouse in St. Louis as an electrical engineer, until his retirement in 1987. Margie retired from Hussman Refrigeration. They made their home in Portage des Sioux, close to St. Charles, MO. They lived there until their retirement.
At the time of their retirement, they moved into their newly built home on land connecting his wife's family farm. They enjoyed hosting and entertaining deer hunters who hunted on the family farm. Some stayed for several days or even weeks. Bob and Margie also hosted many of the Scott Family reunions, with hayrides, weenie roasts and big bar-b-que cookouts. They loved the outdoors, and did a lot of traveling together. Bob was an avid golfer, enjoying playing with several of his friends around Bloomsdale. He even hit a hole in one at Hilton Head, SC.
He is survived by three sisters: Beulah Scott Stone, of Erie, CO, Lois Scott Ditzfeld, of Sedalia, MO, and Virginia McAllister, also of Sedalia, MO; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a half sister, Irene Sigman in 1939; and a sister, Geneva Scott Caton in 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Ste. Genevieve, MO. Burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve.
Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wood Family Funeral Home, 223 Market Street, Ste. Genevieve, MO 63670. Memorial donations are suggested to
